We have a vacuum! Technically we’ve had one for the last six months, but since that old thing started refusing to suck anything up several months ago it has just been taking up space. So this week Ashley bought a $30 vacuum/mop combo from Big Lots. Needless to say I was a skeptical of a $30 vacuum from Big Lots, and the fact that it was packaged with a mop only made me more suspicious. Plus, it had the words “as seen on TV” on the box, which can only be translated as “as seen on deceptive infomercial.” Oh, and on top of all that it’s made by Scunci. They make hair clips for crying out loud!

However, beyond all reason, this vacuum actually has great suction and some other innovative design features such as no bags, no on switch (when you tilt the handle back to start vacuuming it turns on), it’s super lightweight, the handle is designed so that the vacuum can be hung from a hook, the cord can be unwound instantly (I can’t describe how this works but it would make sense if you saw it), and the whole thing folds flat enough to fit in the eight inch space between our refrigerator and counter.
