Kid’s Space

One thing that I have not been able to do as a parent yet is decorate a kids room. Autumn’s nursery was a corner of our bedroom in a house where we rented a room. Hunter’s nursery consisted of a Pack-N-Play in our living room and Little Bug will have pretty much the same thing. Soon all three kids will be in a triple “bunk-crib” built by Brian in the corner of our storage room (also known as our only bedroom). Brian and I have lots of ideas about elements that would make up a perfect children’s room, but we’ve never had the space or money to execute them. We have to be creative with the space we have, so recently we rearranged the toy set-up in the living room to accommodate the current interests of our kids. The most exciting part for me was making Autumn got her very own dress-up corner behind the front door. She has a place to hang up three dresses, an area for purses and a trunk full of other dress-up items. All we need now is a mirror on the back of our front door to make it complete.

We also turned our coffee table into a coloring/drawing desk. Autumn and Hunter both have tins with their names on them that hold their crayons and markers. It is just at their level and perfect for other creative projects as well. Currently Autumn’s two favorite things to do are color/draw and build Lego creations. Yesterday she built cars with her Lego’s and today she has already built a tower, an animal, and a train. Below are pictures of the kids sitting on their “desk” with two of the towers Autumn built.

Your creativity in that small space continually amazes me. Where did Brian’s bike go? I thought it was somewhere around the door?
